IDRA (Inflatable and Deployable Robotic Arm)
Deplotic develops IDRA, an inflatable and deployable robotic arm. By integrating advanced inflatable technology with modular electric actuation, IDRA offers a solution for space logistics and in-orbit servicing (IOS) operations—enabling satellite operators and service providers to significantly reduce costs, complexity, and integration time associated with traditional robotic systems. Thanks to its inflatable structure, IDRA achieves an unprecedented workspace—up to 64 times larger than conventional manipulators with the same stowed volume—while remaining lightweight, compact, and customizable. Its modular design allows rapid adaptation to specific mission requirements, with adjustable link lengths, degrees of freedom, and tool configurations. IDRA is engineered to support a wide range of tasks, including inspection, repair, refueling, upgrading, satellite relocation, and debris removal, both in-orbit and on planetary surfaces. Unlike traditional manipulators, IDRA can be stowed compactly and deployed on demand, making it ideal for spacecraft with tight volume constraints.
